Texas Now Magazine is proud to announce their 1st in a series of Hard Back Coffee Table Books. This first one, Texas Coast Experience - is a compilation of 28 stories covering over 18 cities, towns and counties located along the Texas Coast. We'll highlight all the wonderful places we've learned to love over the 4 years of discovering the Texas Coast while creating our monthly magazine.

The Texas Coast Experience is available now on South Padre Island at Paragraphs on Padre Boulevard, Kingfisher Gallery and Sea Turtle Inc. They make wonderful gifts for thank you, housewarming, wedding, birthday or any special occasion. It would just look good on your coffee table at home whether or not you live in Texas.

Join Tom Meinhausen (publisher) and Marie Cook (photographer and author) for an afternoon to hear how the book was put together, who made the cut and why and see first-hand this beautiful presentation of the Texas coastal communities and lifestyles. Texas Coast Experience is a collection of stories I’ve written over the past 3 years about the people, places and history I’ve discovered in my travels throughout the Coastal Bend. A 5th generation Texan, I was amazed that having lived here my entire life I knew so little about the Texas coastal areas. That’s not saying I never went to the coast, because my family has either been going to Galveston, Lamar, Fulton or Port Aransas since I was 5 years old. It was actually looking through an Arizona native’s eyes to see and experience what had been in front of me all along. They are looking forward to meeting the folks of South Padre Island.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Marie moved to the Texas Coast in 1994 and has called the city of Rockport home for the past 22 years. Both an artist and writer, Marie uses color and texture to express the energy conveyed in her paintings and also in her writing.

The daughter of renowned sportswriter Dan Cook, writing came naturally for Marie. A born storyteller like her father, she has been a feature writer and editor for two regional magazines and her first book, a regional best seller, entitled “Texas Coast Experience” was published in December 2015.

She shares her life with husband Thomas Meinhausen and their cat Precious, just a hop-skip- and-a- jump from the beach and travels the backroads all along the Texas coast discovering new and interesting people, places and things.
